Open Your Mind and See Infinite Possibilities

Little men with little minds and little imaginations go through life in little ruts, smugly resisting all changes which would jar their little worlds. ~Zig Ziglar

When you have an open mind, you can recognize a world of opportunity that not everyone has entry to. An open mind is receptive to new ideas and new modes of being and can allow you to find novel and innovative solutions to everyday quandaries.

Where some people might see only one possible course of action, you can see innumerable options because you aren’t restricted by self-limiting ideas. You have the freedom to explore a wide range of thought, and every action can open you to unusual and exciting prospects.

Seldom will you look upon anything and see barriers when you have an open mind.

Maintaining an open mind can help you see that anything is possible. Your future may appear to you as a long concourse in which you can see the steps you must take to build the life of your dreams.

You may feel particularly perceptive and keenly aware as you consider the possibilities. While ruminating on what you will accomplish, you may be blessed with insights concerning the nature of your future endeavors.

You can make the most of the information that streams into your consciousness by examining the source of that data. The heightened awareness with which you have been blessed can give you the means to view your life and the world in a vastly more creative and dynamic manner. You may be inspired to begin drafting a long-term plan using your intuitive mind as a guide.

You can feel that your mind is more agile and that you are keenly curious and aware. Keeping an open mind could help you learn to recognize new opportunities, accept new ideas, and integrate new ways of being. As you consider challenges you have faced in your past and those you are coping with in the present, you will be able to see new and exciting solutions that you have never considered before. The best solutions can surprise you in their unexpectedness.

You can encourage your mind to blossom by entertaining novel and creative ideas whenever possible.  Exercising your imagination through play may also help further open your mind.

As you cultivate your awareness, your ability to visualize your ambitions and interpret your intuition grows. Many of us move through our lives with our eyes closed, seeing only what we need to see to survive instead of looking deeper. Awareness is the trait that allows you to move beyond the obvious in order to explore what is hidden or invisible.

When you perceive more, you can become a more active participant in your life rather than a mental spectator watching your progress from the sidelines. Your life’s journey will be one of consciousness and resolve. Over time, you’ll become capable of great feats of intellectual and emotional flexibility, as well as insightfulness. The awareness that you nurture will help you understand and productively utilize your visions of the future.

Three Simply ways to Balance Your Life

Don’t let your mind bully your body into believing it must carry the burden of its worries. ~Astrid Alauda

When your life seems out of control and you’ve got endless demands tugging at you from all directions, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, fatigued – and just plain stressed!

Believe it or not, balancing your life does not require massive changes.  You don’t have to quit your job, abandon your family and escape to a remote retreat in order to feel peaceful and happy.  In fact, true balance is something that starts WITHIN YOU first and foremost – no matter what else is happening in your outer life circumstances.

Below you’ll find three simple ways to begin building a greater sense of inner peace and harmony:

1)  Quiet time.

One of the first things we tend to sacrifice when we’re busy is our personal time.  Instead we devote all of our energy and attention to caring for others, multi-tasking, meeting responsibilities and “being productive.”  Over time this depletes our energy and we begin to feel more and more burdened by our responsibilities.

To live a more balanced life, quiet time to yourself is CRUCIAL.  You may believe that you don’t have any time available for yourself, but something amazing happens when you consistently MAKE time; you find yourself feeling happier and more energetic, your focus improves – and you still get plenty done!  Just a few minutes spent sitting quietly in meditation can do wonders in transforming stress into peace and happiness.

2)  Self-care.

Beyond making time for things you enjoy, there are other ways to nurture and love yourself on a daily basis.  Getting a full 8 hours of sleep (or as much as you personally need) is a great start, as well as eating nutritious food, exercising daily and speaking kindly to yourself.

Have you ever noticed that when you’re really tired or stressed, even the smallest problem can seem like a nightmare?  On the other hand, when you’re feeling well-rested and centered, you’re much better able to handle upsets.  Caring for yourself is one sure way to consistently replenish your energy, inner peace and joy – which means you’ll have the strength to handle whatever comes your way.

3)  Flexibility.

Did you know that one of the biggest causes of stress is rigid expectations?  We all do it from time to time; get a mental picture of how our lives “should be” – and get really annoyed when our outer circumstances don’t cooperate!  One of the biggest gifts you can give yourself is a flexible state of mind.  In other words, learn how to detach from expectations and go with the flow.

When you have a flexible mind-set, you’re able to deal with crises and problems much more easily because you’re not working against a preconceived notion of how things “should be”.  You’re able to tap into your creative problem-solving skills and move through challenges without all the drama and frustration.  Be like the Palm tree that bends with the breeze – and you’re much less likely to break!

These inner changes can make a dramatic difference in your state of well-being, but you may also want to examine your outer life circumstances and see if there are other small changes you can make to help support your inner work.

For example, you might choose to let go of certain obligations that are no longer meaningful or enjoyable to you.  Just because you agreed to host weekly meetings for a support group three years ago doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it forever – especially if it’s become a drain on your time and energy!

Be willing to let go of activities that no longer complement the lifestyle you desire, and you’ll create a space for greater fulfillment, joy and peace. Remember it’s your life and only you can live it fully. When you follow these simply steps, you’ll be amazed at how rewarding every event becomes. then you be living Your ElevatedLife.

Attracting Money the E-Zz Way

God gave us two ends – one to sit on and one to think with. Success depends on which one you use. Head you win, tail you lose. ~Author Unknown

One of the most common goals people set when first learning about the Law of Attraction is to attract more money into their lives.  They’re sick of struggling, sick of not having enough, and they’re eager to find relief.

Unfortunately, attracting money is often one of the most difficult objectives, simply because money carries such heavy emotional weight in our lives. There’s a lot riding on the success (or failure) of our goal to attract more money!  Namely, our peace of mind, happiness, security – and much more.

Placing a strong emphasis on the outcome of money attraction only creates more blockages. The more you think you desperately “need” more money; the more you believe you can’t be happy without it; the more frustrated you get when it isn’t showing up – the longer it’s going to take to attract it.

The good news is that there are a few simple things you can do to make the process easier:

1) Lighten up!

The more tense and serious you are about attracting money, the harder it’s going to be.

If you instead look at it like a fun game, you’ll be devoting a perfect mixture of light, positive energy to the process – which is a natural prosperity attractor! In fact, make it your mission to be lighthearted and easygoing about money and everything else in your life from now on. Not only will you end up attracting more money, but also more love, joy, peace, fun and passion in all areas of your life.

2) Be what you want to attract.

Another common blockage is the perception of “here and there.” You believe you are HERE, in the midst of lack and struggle, and you are trying to get over THERE, where there is peace and abundance aplenty.

What you’ll eventually realize is that there is no “here or there.” There is only right now, and whatever you are communicating to the universe right now is what you are creating in your physical reality. Rather than focusing on trying to ATTRACT more money, BECOME a person who has all the money they could ever need. Think, feel and act as if your goal is already achieved, and the universe will make it so! Focus daily on feeling happy, abundant, peaceful, secure, and grateful and you will attract life circumstances that correspond with those feelings.

3) Let go.

Don’t worry about “how” your money will come. Don’t focus obsessively on winning the lottery, receiving an inheritance or anything else specific.

Let the universe decide how it will come. Keep your eyes open for opportunities to receive more money and act on them if you see them, but otherwise detach and know that it’s on the way! For many people, this is easier said than done, but the more you try to control “how” your abundance comes, the more blockages you create.

Additionally, be sure to let go of WHEN money comes into your life. You might be tempted to set a deadline, but the universe has its own timing and wisdom. Be willing to trust and let go, and you open a gateway for immense blessings to flow into your life.

And finally, when you recognize the increase of abundance, be sure to take time to enjoy the experience of fillings the peace and security you desired.

Then show Your Gratitude, by sharing Your Blessings, with someone you don’t know and who can never repay you.

These are the keys to keeping yourself in the Universal flow of good.  Do this and with time, faith and practice you’ll find it’s easy to live Your ElevatedLife.

Accepting Ourselves – the path to lasting friendships

Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sometimes our insecurities can cause us to react to people and situations in an overly sensitive and/or needy manner. An intense desire to be accepted by our peers, colleagues, and loved ones, can cause us to suppress our values, opinions, and beliefs in order to fit in.

However, even if we achieve acceptance, we may nonetheless feel vulnerable because our true identity has been silenced. We may also discover that the interpersonal connections we make in this manner are weak and easily broken.

Being ourselves can help us attract new friends and strengthen the relationships we already share with our loved ones.

Our sensitivity will likely be eased when we discover that the people who care about us appreciate us for who we are.

While the need to belong can drive us to seek out a variety of new companions, it is only in being ourselves that we can connect with the people who will eventually become treasured friends.

Efforts to hide our true natures almost always backfire because living outside of our value systems proves to be a frustrating and stressful experience.

When were ourselves, we are naturally at ease, and others are drawn to our innate confidence and pleasant demeanor. Our honesty can also prove attractive—when we express our sincere thoughts and feelings, new friends understand that we are someone they can trust and confide in on a deeper level.

You’ll find yourself surrounded by people who enjoy your natural kindness and charm when you let your inner self shine.

SeeKing Our Own Way

The best way to succeed in life is to act on the advice we give to others. ~Author Unknown

On this journey that we call life, along our search for clarity and light, we at time come across things that might, given a chance with closer sight, help us to see from higher heights, the glorious gift from God that is this Life.

Our desire to create a more meaningful life can drive us to step back from worldly concerns in order to make a mental survey of the recesses of our very own souls. We may also find ourselves in a contemplative mood and ready to confront issues we have avoided for long stretches of time.

In the peace of our private personal sanctuary, we’ll likely discover that our search for meaning involves an exploration of our own inner complexities that takes us into the past, present, and future. If we allow ourselves to follow the twisting paths of our soul, we can encounter significance where we least expected to find it. As we contemplate our life, we will likely discover that the meaning we seek has been within us all along. Oz, never gave nothing to the tin-man that he didn’t already have.

It is only when we actively seek to understand the composition of our lives that we can begin to truly comprehend the experiences that give meaning to our existence. Often, we expect life to be meaningful as a matter of course and encounter disappointment when we discover that life-changing events seems to progress in a haphazard fashion.

Reflection is the act of thinking critically about that which has happened to you, is happening to you, and will happen to you.  When we examine events in a analytical fashion, we begin to see that there our life follows a linear and logical progression. As we assess where we have been, our path is unveiled. When we reflect upon who we are and who we wish to become, our personal journey takes on a new significance.

Clearing the Mind

Allowing Spirit in

Set aside time each day to unclutter and settle your mind. Whether through yoga, dance, walking or journaling.

After a full day out in the world, stories, words, images, and songs from any number of sources continue to play in our heads hours after we encounter them. Even as we lie in bed, in the quiet dark, our minds continue noisily processing all the input from our day. This can leave us feeling unsettled and harassed. It also makes it difficult to take in any new information or inspiration.

Like a cluttered house that needs to be cleared if it is to have room for movement and new life, our minds need clearing if they are to be open to new information, ideas, and inspiration.  Too often, the activities we choose to help us relax only add to the clutter. Watching television, seeing a movie, reading a book, or talking to a friend all involve taking in more information. In order to really clear our minds, we need a break from mental stimulation.

Activities like yoga, dancing, or taking a long walk help to draw our attention to our bodies, slowing our mental activity enough that our minds begin to settle. Deep breathing is an even simpler way to draw attention away from our mental activities. Once we are mentally relaxed, we can begin the process of clearing our minds.

Most of us instinctively know what allows our minds to relax and release any unnecessary clutter. It may be meditation or time spent staring at the stars. Whatever it is, these exercises feel like a cool, cleansing bath for the brain and leave our minds feeling clear and open.

Setting aside time to clear our minds once a day creates a ritual that becomes second nature over time. Our minds will begin to settle with less effort the more we practice.

Ultimately, the practice of clearing our minds allows us to be increasingly more open so that we can perceive the world as the fresh offering it is, free of yesterday’s mental clutter.  To be present for the Gift of today,  take time to clear away the clutter of yesterday.  Every Day is a Gift that’s why it’s called the Present.

Win the war against procrastination – The battle begins in your mind

Mark Twain had something to say about almost any topic you can imagine.

On the subject of how to avoid procrastination, Twain said,

“Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.”

Everyone can enjoy the humor in Twain’s comment.  But for many of us, Twain’s insight on the danger of procrastination is painfully true.

You can take the first step toward a more satisfying life by getting serious about overcoming procrastination.

And the place to get started is in your own mind-that’s where the war is won or lost.

To overcome procrastination, you have to change your attitude.

All successful people know that you have a better chance of completing a job when you approach it with a positive attitude:

  • Your attitude is a choice. Many people procrastinate because they tell themselves that they will increase their chances of success if they wait for all the circumstances to be “right” before tackling a project.

To be successful, you must force yourself to make a decision and do something no matter what the circumstances say.

  • Your attitude determines the outcome of your actions. People who are successful at what they do are rarely those with the greatest natural ability or the highest IQ.

People who are constantly able to complete jobs successfully have a positive attitude-they believe they can complete the job.

  • You cannot control the past, so move on. Thinking about how you might have responded differently to a difficult problem in the past is an important part of preparing to be a better problem-solver today.

Analyze what you could have done differently, chalk it up to experience, and then move on.

The following quiz will help you identify areas where you can take action today.  Answer “yes” to each statement that describes you.

1. I don’t wait for the “right” set of circumstances to tackle a job-I know the circumstances will never be perfect.

2. I believe my project will be successful if I give it my best effort.

3. When I fail, I don’t blame circumstances beyond my control; I ask myself what I could have done differently to bring about a different result.

4. I don’t fret over decisions once I’ve made them-I stay focused on what I’m doing in the present.

5. I know when to wrap up a job-if I spend more time on it I’m only making up excuses for not starting something new.

If you answered “no” to any of the above statements, make a commitment to change your attitude today.

Choose one item and do something about it. Don’t move on to the next item until you can truthfully answer “yes” to the previous one.

“Be not the slave of your own past,” Ralph Waldo Emerson said. Cut the chains of procrastination and start living life to the fullest right here, right now.

Sharing Joyful Blessings

Let all thy joys be as the month of May, And all thy days be as a marriage day. ~Francis Quarles

Whenever you feel cheerful and optimistic and want to spread joy to everyone you meet. This could make you especially charismatic and you may find yourself attracting people who are in need of a little joy and laughter.

One good way to express your joyful feelings is by making an effort to lift others up with your words and actions. By choosing to use empowering words, compassionate gestures, and genuine smiles, you will be able to spread joy in any setting.

This can be especially effective in situations where someone is feeling down or overwhelmed with life because your joy and optimism will be contagious and help them shift into a more positive mind-set.

As we consciously share our optimism and joy with others, we initiate a powerful exchange of energy that blesses both the giver and recipient. Because our words and actions are infused with energy and intention, choosing to extend our joy in the form of kind words and gestures will transfer powerful positive energy to others.

This energy will become a part of them and attract more positive energy into their lives. At the same time, this energy will make its way back to us, attracting more positive energy into our lives also.

This creates a powerful cycle of joy and blessings that benefits all. By reaching out to share your joyful mood with others, you will infuse the planet with positive energy and blessings.  You will be expanding awareness of Joy and Blessings will flow in your Life.  Sharing your Joy is a blessing and hearing Joy in the voice of the ones you love is living YourElevatedLife!

Salutation of the Dawn

From time to time I come across quotes that are so profound in their inspiration, that I’m complied to share.  Please read, contemplate and Be Lifted.

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!

Look to this Day!

For it is Life, the very Life of Life.

In its brief course lie all the

Verities and Realities of your Existence.

The Bliss of Growth,

The Glory of Action,

The Splendor of Beauty;

For Yesterday is but a Dream,

And To-morrow is only a Vision;

But To-day well lived makes

Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,

And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.

Look well therefore to this Day!

Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!

Committing to Your Goals

I don’t care how much power, brilliance or energy you have, if you don’t harness it and focus it on a specific target, and hold it there you’re never going to accomplish as much as your ability warrants.  ~Zig Ziglar

Have you ever set a goal and not achieved it?

Most people have.  In fact, it’s quite common for people to get stuck in an endless cycle of setting goals and then quitting them shortly after ward’s – and accomplishing nothing at all.

Why do people do this?  One of the biggest reasons is a lack of commitment to their goal.  Without commitment a goal will gradually shrink in importance, and the temptation to quit will seem much more attractive, especially when obstacles cause setbacks and delays.

On the other hand, if you make a serious commitment and then continually remind yourself of it, you’ll be much more likely to persevere and achieve the goal.

Here’s how to commit to your goals:

1)    First and foremost, you have to make sure that every goal you set is of  importance to you.  This can be tricky because we so often fool ourselves into thinking we want one thing when we want something entirely different.  Take some time with this part of the process, and be sure that you get to the heart of what you really want.  Why do you want it?  What will it do for you?  What positive things will it bring to your life?  How will it help you?  How will it make you feel when it’s accomplished?

Write all of this down and keep it handy so you can refer to it as often as necessary if you feel your commitment beginning to slip.  Also ask yourself if your goal is worth the effort and sacrifice that will be needed to achieve it.  If you can honestly answer yes, you are on the way!

2)    Think about what will happen if you don’t follow through.  Would nothing much happen if you don’t achieve your goal?  If not, then you need to raise the stakes!  You have to make your goal the most important thing in the world, and if you don’t do it, you’ll deal with negative consequences.  Even if you have to indulge in a bit of “make believe” in order to do this, do it.  For example, play up the fact that you’ll lose respect for yourself if you don’t follow through; or you might agree to give up something you love if you don’t make it happen.

3)    Then, each and every day, renew your commitment.  It’s easy to be committed when your goal is new and your motivation is high, but you need to be able to STAY committed – no matter what!  Each day when you awaken, read through the goal you wrote down on the first day, and stress again how vitally important it is to you.  Promise yourself that you’re going to do as much as you can to work on your goal that day, and every day until you achieve it.

When it comes right down to it, no one can achieve your goals for you.  If you want to achieve them, you’ll have to find the determination necessary to keep going.  Inactivity and procrastination are usually nothing more than bad habits.

Turning those habits into something more positive and productive is as simple as taking it a day at a time.  The more committed and determined you are to making your goal happen, the more likely you’ll do just that. Life is simple when you remember what the point is and commit to living Your Elevatedlife.
